The drama club at my high school did Cabaret a few years back, and there's a part where Frau Kost, who is a whore makes a comment about looking for "two Marks". A history teacher did a little math and found out that was about $8 back then, and we took to (jokingly, lovingly) calling that girl "the $8 whore" backstage for the entire run. Now I know that made her expensive!
True, true. Still. He could have at least gotten a five dollar bill. Of course, I guess it's just hard for me to imagine how much the dollar was back then, when one dollar won't get you anywhere today.
Germans are not evil, dammit!!!! And now some people still think that Germans are the worst people on the planet becuz of Nazi and stuff, while they actually have to work very hard to earn money for their living ="=
I know, logically, that I am not personally responsible for the actions of those individuals in my country's history who took advantage of the desperate...and yet I cannot get rid of the urge to just beat the shit out of those, living or dead, who do/did this sort of stuff. The fact that it goes on today just...can't get over it.
It's funny how the American looks almost friendly in the penultimate panel when the cigarette's gone. The dialogue could just as easily be "You sure you don't want an ongoing business relationship? As well as the excellent service, there's something I like about you. I think we'll work well together. Oh well, hope I come across you again."
