It was a really beautiful morning today, with lots of fog and sunshine, and it made me want to draw the bog woman and her family.
In Nordic mythology the bog woman is responsible for fog when she brews something in her big black pot. She looks like a troll, but belongs to the elf family.
Elves are the children of the a bog woman. The girls look like beautiful ghosts made of mist, and the boys like dirty children. As the girls grow up they become more and more solid, first turning into the hollow-backed women, and finally bog women. The boys grow all their lives, and the oldest of them all, the elf king, is huge.
The young misty elf girls are the most dangerous. They take great joy in luring men to dance with them, and then either take him to their parents (what they do with him is never mentioned, but it is possible to escape months later) or dance him to death. Their older hollow-backed sisters can also lure men, but not as often and they tend to kill the men on the spot.
