Elftaken 1 by humon Elftaken 1 by humon

First part of a three part comic. For the next part, go to my site humoncomics.com/elftaken-2

Wanted to try making a comic that visually focus on color. This thing nearly killed me.

In case you're now worried poor Baron Thomas will get in a lot of trouble for kissing a guy, worry not. It's meant to take place in Denmark somewhere around the Victorian era, and though homosexuality was illegal back then, no one actually cared. It was even high fashion among young men to have romantic friends whom they did everything with they would have done with a girlfriend (sex was strictly forbidden too, just like if it had been a girlfriend) so it was seen as a phase for teenagers. Hans Christian Andersen was bisexual and very open and public about his flings with men and women alike, yet other people never said he was disgusting and should be in jail, but rather that he was "silly and childish".

So the people at the party are shocked for two reasons: KISSING IN PUBLIC!!! and of course that they're both men, so they should really be too old for that.

Dear Humon,I was just curious on where you heard about homosexuals in Victorian Denmark, from. I was just interested in what it was like for them, back then. I think it's very interesting that Homosexuals were kind of accepted back then in Europe(or Denmark) Do you have a source,or article where I could read about it? Could you send a link? Thanks!

I love your last comment on that: "so they should really be too old for that." xD So matter-of-fact!

I've heard from a friend how in some of the older-ish European cultures (but not too old!) that that's how such things were viewed at the time, as a child's thing to do. (actually, I only heard about England, but I'd be surprised if that didn't carry over into at least ONE other country, especially if that view was maintained during England's Imperialism period.)
