This frikkin movie. Excuse the rant.
I'd put it in the same category as Shaun of The Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End. It has much the same type of humor, a little bit of gore, and even involves a pub and monsters in a seemingly peaceful place.
Like those movies Grabbers isn't perfect, but is exactly the type of movie I like.
And it has this wonderful couple, Lisa and O'Shea.
The drawing is inspired by the line "I'm your knight in shining armor" spoken by a drunk Lisa, and she proves herself right when she later saves O'Shea's life more than once. It's no wonder O'Shea clings onto her arm in a desperate plea for help when the monster grabs him (again).
I just really like how this couple is written. O'Shea is a tough guy who can usually take care of himself, but when he can't, he doesn't mind being saved by his "knightress".
Also bonus: The movie of course has a tentacle sex joke (just verbal, nothing visual) and even that is directed at O'Shea.
So if you'd like to see a monster movie where, just this once, the woman is not a damsel in distress or a macho killing machine, yet saves both herself and her man who lovers her for it, give Grabbers try.
