Horror Movies by humon Horror Movies by humon
My usual reaction to these types of horror movies.

Ghosts scare the living shit out of me because there is no way to stop them. They will just go right though the door and strangle you.

Don't know why I think zombies are boring, I just do. Yes, even the ones that can run. In fact, that just takes some of the usual creepy away from them in my opinion.

Vampires aren't scary either, but I can get involved in some of the drama.

Love werewolves! Not scary either, but they are my favorite monsters of all.

Random monsters, be they giant or created in a lab, are just fun to watch with a bucked of popcorn.

I don't watch slashers. They're just disgusting and don't even have monsters.

Some zombie movies I like (Shaun of the Dead), some werewolf movies are just plain shit, and so on, but this is how I usually feel about them.

This reminds me of my grandad, who was probably the manliest man to ever walk the Earth. We'd occasionally come down from London into Shropshire, where he lived to spend a few days with him. I was still only little at the time and sometimes I'd get scared at 'monsters under the bed' and would go to him for help. He would then grab a fire poker, go into my room, make some noise a bit, so it sounded like he was fighting something, then come back out with the poker being slightly bent and holding a pillow-case stuffed with clothes, making it look like the 'monster' had been caught, which he'd then throw outside. When I asked him how he did it, he'd reply "Don't get scared, get angry"

Suggestions:

Ghosts/Paranormal (I don't really know a lot of ghost movies, especially since I -- in my opinion -- think films like The Conjuring, Ouiji, Insidious and Paranormal Activity are just crap. But I do have three suggestions): The Blair Witch Project, The Frighteners, and 1408.

Zombies (I'm opposite, I love zombies -- but I'm going to distance myself from others when I say that there are hardly any good zombie films out there, but these are my recommendations): Quarantine/REC, The Horde, and 28 Days/Weeks Later.

Vampires: 30 Days of Night, Let The Right One In/Let Me In, and Fright Night (2011)

Slashers: the Scream franchise (a.k.a 'Not Another Teen Slasher')

awwwyeaaah another delver into the depths of madness :D I'm a bit of a lovecraft noob so I've been listening to this lovecraft playlist on spotify.....im starting to see why no one has ever turned these stories into movies (well not all of them anyway) ...cause the mind can conjure up more horrifying things than people think :icondagonplz:

Yes. If you read some of the lore of the Hellboy comics. Especially that about the Ogdru Jahad, you can see that it has quite a bit of insperation from Lovecraft.

I find all of these interesting, but not scary (and I enjoy mocking vampires, like the girl in my avatar haha)

But some things that legitimately scare me are things like Uzumaki and Gyo, or H.P. Lovecraft.

Something about the idea of an ancient horror killing people, warping those around you, and driving you insane so no-one will believe what's happening just horrifies me... And don't even mention The Colour Out of Space... That's probably my favorite HPL story (partly because it lacks a lot of his notorious racism...)

The best slashers are the Japanese ones from the 70's. Mostly because they refuse to make sense. xD

I have to respectfully disagree with you, American slasher flicks from the late 70's and early to mid 80's are the best ones in my book.  Characters like Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees and Freddy Kruger will always be staples of the slasher genre in my eyes.

So I take it you would enjoy Poltergeist. (If you haven't seen it already that is.)

But then there's the psychological thrillers. What about those?

Actually, with ghosts you just need someone adept in dealing with spirits. Some people can turn away or banish them. Others can create implements that ward them away.

eheh nice ^^

To be honest i've been scared by horror movies very very few times, not cause i'm some badass super cool dude at all... they just... uhm... heck i dunno, they just do not xD

- on ghosts i think no movie ever impressed me, except The Others, imho the best ghost movie (shining should win but i dunno if to define it ghost movie)
- vampires nowadays make me sick, they're everywhere XD The only ones i ever enjoyed are some dracula ones (Lee's, Lugosi's ones, the one with captain Gordon's actor damn i dont remember the name >.<) and Nosferatu, the Mornau original one. That's creepy O.o
- werewolves ... uhm i like the creature but as filmography i couldn't tell one :/
-random monsters... some, like The Thing, but probably my most loved horror movie ever is Alien :D counts as random monster one? XD
-slashers... i dunno what they are XD the ones with lots of tomato sauce all around, so fake as blood you can spot onion pieces in it? XD (and for a italian that's a tragedy... well at least for me ^^... so much... tomato sauce... killed.... T_T)
