Mother Gaia by humon Mother Gaia by humon
A little something I made while at work.

I'm actually not much of an environmentalist, but I couldn't help myself when I got the idea after reading an article. :XD:

And she looks so cuddly too!

so true nature will survive and evolve to be more dangerous and deadly and will eventually destroy us and make us fight to survive

I guess this shit must make you feel like a nobel prize. How much ignorance and hate for humanity.
Evaara Featured By Owner Edited Dec 6, 2015  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Didn't feel any hate nor ignorance the comic. Let me explain.

Here's a scenario that pretty much shows what the comic tries to express:

S1 - Humanity somehow "destroys nature" and we still haven't been able to develop space travel technology good enough for us Earthlings to migrate to another habitable planet nor have we evolved as much that a hostile environment won't kill us.

S2 - Human society may or may not devolve into a war torn dystopia. Either way, a "destroyed nature" implies catastrophic damages to the ozone, extinction of natural food sources and the general ecosystem, possible flooding of multiple land masses, etc. What this means is that humans, biologically, won't be able to adapt and may end up dying out in a multitude of ways. e.g.- starvation, radiation exposure (from either the unfiltered rays of the sun because of ozone depletion, nuclear waste contamination, etc.), unregulated pathogen exposure because of lack of a proper civilization, and so many other ways.

S3 - Humans die out. No one will miss us because there is no one to miss us as we're currently the only sentient race intelligent enough capable of "missing" stuff.

S4 - Bacteria and fauna evolve in our absence, Tardigrades for example are practically invulnerable to the elements (radiation, drought, cold temperature, etc.) and will obviously outlive our species at our current state. "Mother Nature" endures.

The End.

No hate, no ignorance, what this comic provides are just facts. The fact that you consider this comic offensive just shows your own ignorance or at least your own lack of insight when it comes to the capabilities of the human race as a species. Couple that with the apparent tone of your comment and your use of swear words and insults then I must assume that you're also the one displaying a hateful attitude. And BTW, you're directing this hateful attitude towards a human and more or less their work of art, and since quote, "Art is what makes us humans." then that means you're directing your hateful attitude towards humanity as a whole as well.

GGWP sir. You are a hypocrite. :P

If you like humanity to die, kill youself. Didn't think so. What am I ignoring, the usual "humans are evil and shit" chatter? One thing's for sure, if all humanity was like you and the author of this drawing it would go extinct in a matter of generations. Humanity survived natural catastrophes having only fire, plagues and epidemics having only iron. Facts are what is proven and with all your philosophy you're only arriving to conclusion without even starting to think. The apparent conflict between humans and nature is nature itself. By definition there is nothing against nature. Imagine 95% of humanity dies in an event. Would that be our extinction? Like humanity's never been composed of a few dozen millions. Very few centuries ago we weren't a tenth of how many we are today. How did we spread without iphones, antibiotics, airplanes, satelites, trains? We didn't start already 7 billions you know. You absolutely underestimate humanity.

Because human is human. They die early or later. It's life. Just life. Aaand im not best for explain. not ignorant or something
Garooshly Featured By Owner Feb 6, 2016
You're missing the point, the point of the comic is that Earth is is totally apathetic to our activities and it's incredibly unlikely that we'll do any lasting damage to nature. She'll rebound into lush biodiversity just like she has after every other mass extinction.

In my country, Mother Earth is called Pachamama, and when humans make her angry, she gives plagues and droughts to everybody. She's simply the best :3

lysandros Featured By Owner Apr 27, 2015
Think about it, we're getting our ass kicked by the earth. But eventually, we're gonna figure out weather manipulation and we'll finally have the upper hand. We fuck that up? Someone else is gonna come along and make a better weather machine. The bitch can kick our ass, but we are gonna keep getting up.

She thinks she'll keep us down? Hell no, we like getting hurt. And one day, the bitch is gonna rear back for another kick, only to find us in her face with a boot to the face.

Actually, the table is big as f#$%. Problem is, only a few self-centered pigs want to have all of it (yeah, even the scraps) for themselves. They're gonna die too anyway, so it's ok.

If this was really mothers Earth's attitude ... I would suddenly feel 100% ok about every species we ever sent extinct, and every forest we burned to the ground.
mikkal85 Featured By Owner Apr 26, 2015
You must hate yourself a lot then. It is us who will suffer for burning everything to the ground. Even if you want to die so much, I don't. :)
Surely-SureSorrow Featured By Owner Edited Apr 26, 2015  Student Digital Artist
Ehh - that's not what I intended to communicate.  I am mostly reminded of many atheists who argue that even if Biblical God was real, they still wouldn't worship him as they believe, by all tellings of him in the bible, that he is vain, ruthless and self-absorbed.  Am I wrong to consider, that by this depiction of mother earth, my taking a similar stance is wrong?  Am I wrong to not want to worship a vain, heartless and unconcerned mother earth?

I must hate myself a lot.  For the record, that is a very strange way to open a challenge of logic.  I find it interesting you do not wish to die.  Hopefully I am not the first to tell you that some day you will.

I love Earth and Nature and Life and Being Alive and even Death.  Death is to me not so terrible a thing as life is simply such a wonderful thing.

I recognize the point of the comic:  Our destruction of the environment is our undoing, and not Earths as Earth has already experience numerous mass extinctions and radical climate changes and Life always persists. It is the particular way that Earth as an entity has been portrayed that I don't like.  I find it offensive.
