Mother Gaia by humon Mother Gaia by humon
A little something I made while at work.

I'm actually not much of an environmentalist, but I couldn't help myself when I got the idea after reading an article. :XD:

In my country, Mother Earth is called Pachamama, and when humans make her angry, she gives plagues and droughts to everybody. She's simply the best :3

Dear Gaia, please, don't take my sandwhich.

Sen's sandwich with moist turkey and milner cheese.

Sen's sandwich, please don't eat me.

And then Gaia is still gonna eat it, why? Because she can. XD

Think about it, we're getting our ass kicked by the earth. But eventually, we're gonna figure out weather manipulation and we'll finally have the upper hand. We fuck that up? Someone else is gonna come along and make a better weather machine. The bitch can kick our ass, but we are gonna keep getting up.

She thinks she'll keep us down? Hell no, we like getting hurt. And one day, the bitch is gonna rear back for another kick, only to find us in her face with a boot to the face.

Actually, the table is big as f#$%. Problem is, only a few self-centered pigs want to have all of it (yeah, even the scraps) for themselves. They're gonna die too anyway, so it's ok.

If this was really mothers Earth's attitude ... I would suddenly feel 100% ok about every species we ever sent extinct, and every forest we burned to the ground.

You must hate yourself a lot then. It is us who will suffer for burning everything to the ground. Even if you want to die so much, I don't. :)

Ehh - that's not what I intended to communicate.  I am mostly reminded of many atheists who argue that even if Biblical God was real, they still wouldn't worship him as they believe, by all tellings of him in the bible, that he is vain, ruthless and self-absorbed.  Am I wrong to consider, that by this depiction of mother earth, my taking a similar stance is wrong?  Am I wrong to not want to worship a vain, heartless and unconcerned mother earth?

I must hate myself a lot.  For the record, that is a very strange way to open a challenge of logic.  I find it interesting you do not wish to die.  Hopefully I am not the first to tell you that some day you will.

I love Earth and Nature and Life and Being Alive and even Death.  Death is to me not so terrible a thing as life is simply such a wonderful thing.

I recognize the point of the comic:  Our destruction of the environment is our undoing, and not Earths as Earth has already experience numerous mass extinctions and radical climate changes and Life always persists. It is the particular way that Earth as an entity has been portrayed that I don't like.  I find it offensive.

If humans can't live in something, a great number of other species also won't be able to live. We're more adaptable than most.

Try to live in space or in boiling water or without oxygen. Then maybe, I believe we are more adaptable than most.

Just as an example. Rats can live almost anywhere as humans do. I bet on that human couldn't live in deserts or in the arctic without trading resources. We wouldn't live in space without trade and where we get the resources? From nature of course. We will always dependent on nature. Our adaptability has never even been tested yet. I mean really tested. Modern human has existed only for about 200.000 years.

listen i'm not saying we're not shooting yourself in the foot with this hole messing with nature fragile balance, BUT! when it comes adaptability whether it be animals plants or fungi, humans are unmatched.
(and don't even get me started on the hole humans are not natural thing.)

Actually, we're just resourceful. Bacteria are actually the most adaptable organisms on the planet. They can live in extreme climates, without oxygen, and are constantly adapting and evolving. And above bacteria would be viruses, if they were considered to be living creatures, which is actually being debated.

You're technically correct it all depends on your definition of life i'm talking about multicellular organisme. Not single cellular, If we talk about organisms that do not have a nucleus i could say a rock is more adaptable then humans. Which is (again) technically correct.

Well think about it. The world has gone thought something called "evolition". Now, the nature has always been there, there's still grass, flower and trees. Now us humans. We will be gone someday. We'll change to something else or just be gone. THE NATURE WILL STILL BE THERE LIKE WHEN THE DINOSAURS WAS GONE DEAD. See?

At what point did i say humans are gonna out live Earth? Answer never.
what i said was when mother nature here* said nature will find a way. I responded with oh yeah? we will (hopefully) find another way of living because previous events has shown that humans can achieve what seems impossible from a natural point of view, we have defined our natural boundaries on multiple occasion and we will continue doing so for many years to come.

(TL;DR) Being able to survive / dominate in such vastly different and harsh places and still be the dominant species in such a relatively small time frame  just shows how adabtle we are.

"We will (hopefully) find another way of living" well it is a little chance that it will happen. Sure we humans can achieve what seems impossible but when the time is near, we human can be ignorant and forget what is really danger while nature can live with it.

I agree, we can't destroy nature, sure we can drive some species to extinction and damage habitats but nature will adapt and new species eventually will evolve to fill the gaps. Nature is tough and extinction is an important part of the process of life and evolution, we for one would not be here if the dinosaur hadn't died out and enabled our mammalian ancestors to evolve and we will not be here forever, the fate of all species is extinction eventually, that is not a bad thing, that is just how it is. I am not an environmentalist, I will do some things to help nature but I do so because I care for individual creatures, and also partially out of selfish reasons, I enjoy nature and therefore want to conserve it so I can continue to enjoy it. For example I feed the birds in the garden because I enjoy watching them, not because I want to save them from extinction. The birds don't know or care about extinction. I sort of zone out when people start talking about how we are 'destroying the planet', yes we are apparently in the middle of a mass extinction but that isn't necessarily a bad thing, mass extinctions have happened before and to me they just seem like the end of a chapter in life's history. There will be a new chapter, whether or not the human race will feature remains to be seen.
