My Trolls by humon My Trolls by humon
Not a very exiting photo, I know, but I talked with a girl who is also a big troll fan and she wanted to see my troll figurines.

Despite (or more likely because of) my love of trolls I only have these two. I'm extremely picky about troll figurines, and only want those made of stone, wood or clay, and prefer those with a more kind look.

The small clay one is a Krølle Bølle, which is a special type of troll figurine made on the Danish island Bornholm.

The tall wooden one is however a bit of a mystery. I found it in a used store and it looks suspiciously Swedish because of it's long hair, yet it has the cute features of a Danish troll, and Swedish also tend to have longer noses.

So I have to admit that I'm also posting this here to see if anyone can tell me where the wooden troll is from, or if it's just a homemade one. ^^;

My mom has one exactly like the wooden one, so it probably is Swedish! (unless she got it abroad, but I don't think so)

And yes, I'm from Denmark too xD

Well My Girlfriend nad I could give an educated guess and say it might have been made in Denmark by maybe a local craftsman to be sold at the various crafts markets. But we can both agree the Krølle Bølle is cool ^_^SHe has one of her own and that the wooden troll is really neat.

aaaaaaargh. Jeg elsker også trolde. (har min egen lille samling. 10hifniz) Trolden af træ minder mig lidt om troldene fra tegneserien 'Trolderi' med de tre frække trolde Gimpe, Humpe og Lille Skid. :P

thank yarr xD

that kid was an evil troll... I was walking around with my friend, our arms hooked, and I WAS wearing a pretty baggy hoody, but I didn't even know him and he just asked randomly: are you a boy or a girl? and I said to him: at least I'm one or the other :)

The wooden one is very unusual, for what I have seen. It looks very southwestern swedish, from what I can tell, but I can't be too sure on that.

I think I need to get some of these, someday. Sounds like it'll be awful hard to find good ones, though -- at least, here in the states. Maybe in a few years I'll have better luck.

Homemade definitely but has obvious Swedish influence and was most likely made by an artist whom had his own interpretation of what trolls should look like...

but I could be completely wrong

The wooden one are almost certainly Swedish. It got the large ears with big rings, huge feet, long dragging-on-ground hair and as long as the nose is big, it fits into the Swedish trolls category.
I think John Bauer (awesome artist, google him) is mostly responsible for people thinking all Swedish trolls have to have hunched backs and straight-out pointy noses, but check other historical references.

And if there's one thing we have plenty of, it's wood ;)

maybe the wooden troll was homemade? or a mix of danish and swedish because it is from somewhere between both countries..? :/

aww now i want figurines too!!!

when i was living in italy some years ago i bought three fairy figurines in an alpine town in Aosta, but i bought them for my childhood best friend because she also loves fairies and trolls and that kind of things, we shared that passion, so i bought them for her and each fairy came with a little jar and a small blank scroll inside so you could make a wish, they were lovely<3

there was also some christmas thing going on outside my city's (Brescia) church and there were stands where you could buy lots of different candies, christmas decorations, christmas figurines and also folk figurines like trolls and fairies, i ADORED it,

awh... i want to go back there :'( and buy figurines and candy, and live happily, i was sooo damn happy in Italy!!! it's the best, such a beautiful country..<3 (totally carried away)

the place i bought them in was lovely too, it was small and cozy and so magical <3<3
i am so sure i lived there in my past lives *v* inside i'm from there i'm sure!! (cheesy speech lol please bear with me haha)

okbyenow<3

guess it could have been made in the southen part of Sweden, caues Denmark once hold a bit of the Swedish land so it could be a mix of culture that has been taken up agian
