Mysterious Apes by humon Mysterious Apes by humon
Found this old drawing of the most famous mysterious apes around the world that I did some time ago. I haven't had much time to draw this week so I thought I might as well post it.

From left to right:

Skunk Ape
Said to live in southern states of USA. All the mysterious apes are said to smell bad, but non as bad as the Skunk Ape who apparently smells like "a skunk that had a fight with a dumpster".

Big Foot
Probably the most famous of all the mysterious apes. Lives in the northern parts of USA and was first described by the Native Americans.

Orang Pendek
A very short little guy from Sumatra. This one is actually being taken serious by scientists and there's even groups who tries to preserve the areas it is said to live in because it's believed to be an as-of-yet unknown ape species.

Yeti
The next most famous of the group. Lives in Himalaya and therefore the most mysterious because of the harsh conditions, not to mention it's relationship with monks and old scrolls.

Yowie
Rather funny looking creature from Australia with a big stomach and long thin legs. The aboriginals were the first to tell stories about it, and while it is said to be pretty shy (and even silly) most of the time, it has attacked more people than the rest of the group.

Yowies are also reported to be one of the few crypto-apes with large fangs, visible when the mouth is closed.

This is just plain adorable!! I love how you've actually distinguished between each. So often they just all get thrown into the 'bigfoot' basket, even though they are actually very different from eachother.

No Sasquatch? :( Or would Sasquatch just count as a Canadian without his shirt on? (Sasquatch are like northern bigfoot, are supposed to be very hairy, and live in the interior of the Canadian province of British Columbia - like the Yowie, the First Nations were the first to tell stories about them).

I believe Sasquatch is another name for Bigfoot or vice versa.

Man, I wish Yowies were actually that nice looking and silly. It'd make my adventures to observe them much safer.
But, they're actually pretty fearsome.

I live in Washington relatively close to the Cascades (our other mountain range is the Olympics) and once in awhile we see a Sasquatch hunting group pass through town. It's interesting.

What was the other thing they call bigfoots/sasquatches? Uhhhhm. Some ridiculous names. xD
I refuse to believe in bigfoots simply because there's really nothing to prove their existence. If they were said to be currently-extinct, I'd buy that. But that there are as many as people claim there are now, and nobody's seen them? Nuh-uh. I don't buy it.

You missed the Genoskwa, the Canadian cousin of the Sasquatch/Big Foot. Only they're not shy and in stories from the Iroquois indians, they ritualistically attacked villages and ate everyone they captured. In fact they claim all the missing campers and trailwalkers were victims of these aggressive flesh eating apes.

Always thought Bigfoot was more central USA and it was the Sasquatch that was NW and Canada. They're pretty much the same, though.

I see the Skunk Ape and immediately think he should be yelling "ROCK ON!!!!"
And Bigfoot is also called Sasquatch depending on where you are. I think more Canadians call it Sasquatch than Bigfoot. Though some people think they are separate things.
I don't get it really, but I also don't live on the west coast. The only monster I've ever seen was a quilled wolverine. It's face was covered with quills after it attacked a porcupine in a tree.
I also saw a ninja raccoon and an evil giant carnivorous turkey living on a golf course. The turkey stood atop a hill to watch hunters in a field kill an entire flock of geese. But these are stories for another time...
