The Strong Princess by humon The Strong Princess by humon
The second fairytale [link]

I've always wanted to write classic fairytales with alternative couples, and a few days ago I was bored and came up with this.

The language isn't amazing, but I was trying to use the simple language from other old fairytales.

I plan on making a story for each of the couples in the Niels universe.

You can read the comics here [link]

Had to re-find this and read it again ♥ I've always been so sad that there aren't any cute lesbian themed fairytales, if you ever turned this into a children's book I would jump at the opportunity to own it! Its so sweet ♥

Actually, it's the simplicity of the language that makes the story magical.
You did quite well.

Nice to see this. I used to do this when I was younger too, making up alternative stories. There was one in particular where there was a mommy with two daddies and their kids (hmm...that's probably why I love the Niels series so much)
Unfortunately it just made me even weirder to the other children and they picked on me more until I learned to defend myself from my father teaching me his military self defense like how to snap a wrist-
and I'm getting ahead of myself, so yeah, good job, humon :)

If Rose was kidnapped by a dragon I think I would have done the same thing plus I agree with she does look like a cherry tree in bloom.

OPS! I didn't finish the second phrase:

"and a princess, or a girl in general, is generally a nice to do. --> to rescue is generally a nice thing to do."

And I wanted to add something: Rose claims to have feminine traits, and maybe wants to be treated gently as generally women like to be trated... and at the same time being masculine... It's too much in one person, who just seems to be just self-dependent at all!

The story is nice, and the message may be reassuring for young girls like Rose...

Anyway, I can also understand the princes, the knights and the kings who didn't want to take Rose at all...
Ok, love is love, it doesn't basically depend on the strenght, the height or the bigness of the one you could love; and a princess, or a girl in general, is generally a nice to do.
But PRACTICALLY speaking the problem is that girls like Rose want to be and know and do everything, so that having a counterpart seems unuseful and senseless. I mean, Rose did want to be strong as the males usually are, remaining anyway a female, with the possibility to give birth to children, being a mother and so the main governess in a house, etc. etc. Girls like these may be strong and very advanced, fearless and self-sufficient, so why do they need someone at their side? Men cannot simply cannot be females too, especially for simple biological reasons: the main thing they miss is an utherus in which growing a child. So I highly understand the basic and natural reaction of these men, who probably would have felt unuseful trying to be the MALE inside the couple: that's simple oddly overbalanced.
Anyway, I think the sotry itself is a good example for growing-girls in this men's world to have more easily high self-esteem or high self-confidence.
But being Rose a so likely PRINCESS, who would really like to be her PRINCE? In fact, only a lesbian could handle such a situation and get over it.

oooh, 'ello societal gender roles! *a relationship does not have to have one person to be the strong one and one person to have the babies.* there are miiillions more character traits and combinations, and just because one person takes up the whole 'strong and owns a uterus' combination does *not* mean that there's no room for another person.
a straight guy can be the more nurturing member of a relationship, and a straight girl can be the less emotionally 'in touch' one.
same goes for lesbians, gays, trans, whatever.
question what society says you should do based on your gender!

That isn't actually true though.
To say only lesbians can handle that situation is kind of a rough generalization.

Well... you might be right, and most probably is, but I do not think it's just a case that humon chose a girl (Billy) playing the part of a brave and lovely "prince"... What does all this mean? I see (but it's just a personal view) a strong message of lesbianism in this comic, as any man could not ever handle this case like Billy (a girl) can do. I would have preferred that Billy was a male guy, but the story itself could have last half if its appeal, most probably because the fact that Billy is a girl constitutes the turning, original and shocking point of the whole story.

But think about it: without some male-bashing action in it, what kind of humon-comic could ever be? ;)

I was hoping it would be kind of a cute story about how the girl is more masculine while the guy would be more feminine. (I'm biased because my sappy cliche love story is that way, and I didn't even really went looking for love. XD )

So if I have understood, your typical love story involves more feminine males and more masculine girls?

Not really. XD Since most of my soon to be novels don't really focus around male characters and depressing fates and such, with horror and sci-fi/fantasy.

I just happen to have a life that could count as one of those weird cliche love stories. Makes me want to gag sometimes. XD

Lol, Rose is probably one of the smartest princesses I've ever heards of. Seeing as she actually tried to protect herself instead of having some strange random guy do it for her.

Billy became 'queen'. Even though she's a lesbian she's still a girl :) sweet story. I used to have boys hitting on me all the time til they heard I was a homoromantic. Now I'm 'one of the guys,' and I keep telling them I'm still a GIRL.

Beautiful tale. Very touching.

I know that's probably pretty generic and boring comment to hear, but its genuinely a lovely scene at the end and the words are ones that people should hear more often.

Great story, fun art, and a good message.
